I am Aidan Lau, a third year finance student in Sauder. It is a great pleasure for me to join the Commerce Mentorship Program as an Academic Consultant this year. I am born in Vancouver, but moved to Hong Kong when I was 3. I came back to Vancouver during first year and have been enjoying this place ever since. Unfortunately, I regret to say that I haven’t been exploring a lot of places around Vancouver, other than Richmond and downtown.
One of my biggest passions is football (not soccer!). I do not play the game since I am terrible with sports, but I love watching the games. I spend a significant amount of time just reading football news. My favourite team is Arsenal and I have strong opinions about the team’s transfer strategy although I believe in the leadership of Wenger wholeheartedly. Other than football, another thing I do a lot is playing Tetris. The amount of Tetris I play exponentially increase as I get closer to midterms and finals seasons. I am not particularly good at it considering the amount I play, but I am content as long as I am able to decrease my stress level. I have picked up this habit in my final years of IB and have been addicted to it from time to time ever since. One other thing I am particularly passionate about is economics and I have developed a neo-classical economic worldview, which is not exactly the most popular opinion. On that note, I wish that I will have a wonderful experience working as a managerial economics academic consultant and deliver great review sessions.
