Why did you join CMP?
I realized that the CMP would give me the perfect opportunity to challenge my technical skills in technology design while also helping the community. Additionally, I wanted to add an unique aspect to this organization by enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of future operations through new technology initiatives which will ultimately benefit students who need help in their courses.
Which course have you enjoyed the most at UBC?
The course that I have enjoyed the most would definitely be CPSC121. This course is quite different from other computer science courses since no coding is involved and its basically all discrete mathematics. The labs were quite fun and interactive as well playing around with the “Magic Box”.
What is your favourite food?
Beijing Peking Duck =)
What do you do outside of class?
I enjoy participating in various academic activities during my spare time such as case competitions and coding challenges. I also like to hike, swim and jog throughout the summer and travel around to different places.
What’s your favourite quote?
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
What advice would you give to first year students?
Though grades matter, university is a lot more about the experience and what you get out of it. Opportunities are not given to you freely so definitely go join and apply for clubs, try new things and meet new people. Friends have definitely helped me throughout university especially through the stressful times. Most importantly, it is okay to make mistakes or not get the things you want, use those experiences to improve and achieve your future aspirations.
